Open And Then Closed

The Open House was a great success. We had a house full of guests and no one went home hungry. Even after a hoard of hungry skaters ravaged the spread, we still had leftovers. We'll be eating meatballs, chicken wings and pork chili verde for weeks to come. And then there is the dessert! All hope of dropping down to 161 pounds was replaced with dread for what the scale will tell tomorrow.

In the fireplace I created an arrangement of glass column vases with tea lights and stones in the bottom. We had never done this before and everyone was wowed by the effect.

The arrangement made for some fascinating photo composition choices.

Focusing on the glass ...

... or focusing on the candles. And then I got sucked into a Photoshop wonderland . . .

... utilizing polar coordinates and some other tricks ...

... playing around with an inverted image ...

... and finally an abstraction so removed from the original that it evokes thoughts of Southwestern Native American art.
